Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated, creative, and detail orientated person to join our Product Development/Account Management team.
The ideal candidate will assess the market and trends, work with multiple teams within our organization to collect feedback and knowledge to bring best to market. The candidate will play a key role in shaping seasonal and core product selection, working in conjunction with the sales teams and retail buyers.
Responsibilities
- Managing the product development process from concept to launch
- Create and manage project timelines, ensuring critical milestones are met
- Partner with existing suppliers on finding newness that fits our customer database and needs
- Work with our suppliers to meet product requirements including design specs, material review, packaging requests and costing
- Negotiate with suppliers and customers, and monitor profitability based on awareness of retails in marketplace
- Act as liaison between sales and suppliers to support retailer specific programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams like sales, design, and production to define product specifications, design, features, materials and performance criteria
- Work collectively with account management team to bring innovative products to market while analyzing sales data, material costs, freight calculations and customer feedback
- Frequent market comp shops to maintain up to date market knowledge of price points, key items, trends, packaging concepts, etc.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify customer needs, market trends and competitive landscape, providing insights to inform product development decisions
- Conduct product analysis, user testing, review samples, and gather feedback to evaluate product usability, quality standards, functionality and overall experience
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction and driving revenue growth
- Serve as a primary point of contact for select customers, addressing their needs, resolving issues, and managing accounts
- Handle inquiries and requests from customers
- Build presentations and work with sales team on key selling features
- Stay on top of accounts, making sure they receive their inventory needs
- Meet regularly with other team members to discuss progress and find new ways to improve business and product assortment
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in product design, fashion merchandising management, or a related field
- At least 3+ years of experience in a product development and/or sales, account management
- Must have basic MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva skills
- Ability to multitask and juggle several responsibilities simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills to interpret market data and make informed product decisions
- Effective problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality products
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- A creative mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and cost optimization techniques
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience in home and seasonal product
- Familiarity with market research techniques and consumer behavior in the home category
- Knowledge of quality assurance and product testing
- Proficiency in using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software
- Awareness of intellectual property rights and patent processes
