Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Chargeback Recovery Manager to lead our chargeback strategy. This role will manage the AR & Chargeback process to drive measurable chargeback recovery and provide actionable insights to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail and wholesale AR dispute and chargeback resolution, knowledge of retail/wholesale operational process, as well as filing and tracking chargeback disputes including reason codes and at-fault designations. Strong financial analysis, reporting, ERP, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced wholesale environment is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Chargeback Analysis & Recovery
- Investigate, validate, dispute, and resolve chargebacks and deductions from major retail and distribution partners.
- Develop and implement strategies to recover invalid chargebacks and reduce future occurrences.
- Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails for all chargeback disputes.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and Compliance teams to resolve disputes and improve upstream processes.
- Act as a liaison between internal operational teams and external retail customers to ensure alignment and resolution.
Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Track chargeback recovery to ensure positive financial impact.
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly AR/Chargeback recovery reports to senior management.
- Analyze trends and root causes of chargebacks to identify process improvements.
Accounts Receivable Support
- Support Accounting Manager/Controller AR process by leading chargeback analysis and recovery strategy.
- Monitor aging reports and proactively manage delinquent accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of customer accounts.
Senior Management Communication
- Provide strategic recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners and internal stakeholders.
- Represent the company in a professional manner during chargeback negotiations and escalations.
QUALITIFATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Chargeback recovery and retail financial operations, preferably in wholesale or distribution.
- Experience with retail chargeback dispute & recovery e.g. reason & fault codes, dispute resolution, compliance.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., AMT, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced Excel and large data set manipulation skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Familiarity with major US retailers’ chargeback policies (e.g., Walmart, Target, Amazon).
- Experience with EDI transactions and retail portals.
- Knowledge of inventory and logistics workflows in a wholesale distribution setting.
- Success leading chargeback dispute & recovery strategies.
